Fred Joseph Doiron III

1954 ∼ 2023

Fred Joseph Doiron III, 69, of Bridge City, TX, passed on through the heavenly gates on November 30, 2023. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, notifications will be updated through Facebook.

Fred was born on May 26, 1954, to Fred Joseph Doiron Jr and Gustine Reynolds Doiron. He was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School class of 1972 and by trade was pipe designer, draftsmen and home builder. To know Fred was to love him. He was a wheeler dealer and loved to find a bargain. He enjoyed his projects to keep himself busy in his retirement and worked hard to get his steps in. He was the life of any party with his musical talent with his singing or on the guitar. He loved sitting in his gazebo drinking his morning coffee or grilling salmon. He could make anything green grow and was happy tending to his plants. He enjoyed visiting friends from all over but most importantly he valued family above all.

He was dedicated to his son and daughter in law, but the apple of his eye was his only grandbaby. His sun rose and set with her. He’d always be out waiting in the mornings to wish her a good day at school and tell her how much he adored and loved her. He couldn’t wait for the dance rehearsal previews or the recitals. He radiated joy and contentment when helping her writing her letters or helping her read her site words. She adores her Pawpaw Fred. He will be sorely missed but, in his words, “I say so long because goodbye is permanent and I will see you again.”

He is preceded in death by his parents Fred Joseph Doiron Jr and Gustine Reynolds Doiron, his sisters Sandra Cunningham and Ada Bridges.

He is survived by his son Matthew Doiron and wife Rachel of Bridge City, TX, granddaughter Saylor Doiron, girlfriend Tanya Graves and many cousins and friends whom he loved beyond measure.

Cremation will be handled by Claybar Funeral home in Orange, TX.

What can I say but to know Freddie was to love Freddie. We lived two house down from him on Ninth avenue. The neighborhood kids always played together. We would put on shows in our garage. Freddie of course could always sign and me and my sister would do impressions of Diana Ross and the Supremes. To this day he still calls me Motown. LOL . He has the voice of an angel. I always called him my John Denver twin since he sounded so much like him. Our 45th reunion was shared with the class of 72 so he was there with us. And as usual his funny witty self. We all know how much he loved Saylor. He will be so missed. Sending prayers for the family.

Freddie,as we knew him at Sam Houston Elementary School, In Port Arthur, Texas, was the nicest, sweetest guy in our class. Since the 3rd grade, Mrs. Thrasher's class, Fred has been a constant throughout my school-age years. We connected on Facebook a few years ago, and I could tell that he was still that beautiful person. The world was a brighter place with Freddie in it. I miss him.

I worked with Fred at Matrix Engineering and attended weekly "union meetings" he called at the bar of his choice. Later on I hustled cars with him. There was never a dull moment with Fred. I will miss my friend.

Every time we saw Fred, he had us laughing so hard. Fred was really funny, and I can’t possibly tell these stories as good as Fred. Here is a great funny story Fred would tell about this trick he and Mary played on a man and his wife. Fred and Mary posed as Yogoslavian immigrants . This story was so funny because Fred would tell it with a Yugoslavian accent. Anyway they went to this man and woman’s house and Fred was talking with this Yugoslavian accent and telling this man all kinda stuff. He told the man than Mary could not speak English. But every so often he would say something to Mary, and she would answer him with this deer in the headlight look and say, “YAH.” Towards the end of their visit, apparently Mary had to go to the bathroom, so she was tugging on his sleeve. Then he looks at Mary and says, “Sh*t??” And she says, “YAH.” They had the man and his wife totally convinced that they were Yugoslavian immigrants! When he told this story, we laughed until we cried. Oh how we wish we could hear Freddie Bear tell this story again.

So many funny memories with Fred. One time Fred visited my husband and I when we lived in Houston…..back in the day. We went to a comedy club. The comedian kept cracking jokes about Beaumont. He was really throwing down on Beaumont, and it was so funny. Fred sitting at our table on the front row, so then the comedian started a very funny dialogue with Fred. After a few funny jokes with Fred, he asked Fred where he was from, and I shouted out —“BEAUMONT!” Everyone in the club was laughing their butts off!

Fred was one of the greatest men I have ever known. We grew up together. Fred had such a great sense of humor, and he entertained us constantly with his funny stories. Back in the day, maybe 40 years ago, I was married and we lived in a studio duplex in Austin. Fred and Mary drove down in their BMW and and visited us—they slept downstairs on our fold out couch. There was a hail storm in the middle of the night. Freddie —in his underwear— frantically grabbed a blanket and ran outside to cover his BMW to protect it. We all laughed so hard our sides were hurting!

Fred was one of the nicest, sweetest person I knew. As a fellow TJ graduate of 72 we go back quite a way. His smile, humor and live for life, family and country was infectious. He was one of the good guys! The world was a better place with him in it and always will be. RIP my friend. My condolences to his family and friends. Wiley Barner
