Francis Colleen “Coky” Smith, 58, of Orange, passed away on July 19, 2020, in Orange.
Born in Joplin, Missouri, on March 2, 1962, she was the daughter of Bill Hooper and Frankie (Ryan) Hooper. Francis was able to find joy in the smallest of places, her happy place often being in the garden working with plants or on the beach with her toes in the sand. She loved her family dearly and absolutely adored her grandchildren, soaking up every moment she got to spend with them by her side. Francis will be dearly missed by all those she left an impact on in her well lived life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frankie & Bill Hooper; and husband Eddie Smith.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Sarah Gutierrez and husband Richard of Orange, and Taylor Bendy and husband Roy of Bridge City; grandchildren, Tres Gutierrez, Brenna Gutierrez, Greyson Gutierrez, Sheyenne Bendy and Dakota Bendy; and siblings, Angie Hawkins, Debi Smith, Cindy Jolly, Jackie Powell, Jeff Powell, Billy Powell and wife Renea, and Colin Powell.
Francis’ family would like to extend a special thank you to Kindred Hospice, especially Betty, Regina, & Chaplain John for the love and compassion they showered her with throughout their care.
Cremation will be under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

The last time I seen Cokey was at Fast Stop in Bridge City I hallored at her Frances Colleen what are you doing she turned real quick and said Patches you sounded just like MoMA and cried. I held her and told her I'm sorry baby girl and told her I love you she said it's alright it was really special as I thought I was in trouble, with both had a good laugh, we truly loved her and she was a kindred family member. Much love to her family.

Our visits on her porch are a priceless memory, her smile, wit and candor will be embedded in my memory forever. I'll miss my sister-in-law, my friend. Our last hug...priceless. Rest now, Sweet Cokey. We'll meet again on another porch. Arlene
