Elizabeth Helen Subasa

Elizabeth Helen Subasa, lovingly known as “Betty,” 89, of Santee, California, passed away on October 24, 2019, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur, Texas.

Born in Akron, Ohio, on February 23, 1930, she was the daughter of Julius Schwindt and Elizabeth (Bishoff) Schwindt. Betty was a devout member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her family, reading anything by James Patterson, a good crossword puzzle, and football. Betty will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Elizabeth Schwindt; and her loving husband of 67 years, George Subasa.

She is survived by her children, Philip Subasa and Margie Trujillo of Henderson, Nevada; Elizabeth “Liz” and Dan Jefferson of Pflugerville, Texas; Stefanie Hawthorne of Nashville, Tennessee; Steve Subasa of Nashville, Tennessee; Monica and David Trahan of Bridge City, Texas; and Lisa Ciborowski of Santee, California; her sister, Lillian Kowis of Columbus, Ohio; her grandchildren, Shane, Josh, Jennifer, Jake, Damon, Colin, Jackie, Ian, Kirsten, Justin, Colton, Michelle, Angie, Connie and Christy; as well as her 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Betty will be interred beside her loving husband, George, at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, California.
