Elizabeth Ann Smith, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, at the age of 86, in Beaumont. She was born on October 6, 1939, in Pitkin, Louisiana.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Cherrice Smith. Burial will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange.
Visitation will begin prior to the service at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Elizabeth's life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to her family and her gentle spirit. As the eldest of ten children, she embraced her role with grace, dedicating her life to helping care for her younger siblings and later, her dear mother for many years. She walked a long distance every morning to attend Lutcher Stark High School, from which she proudly graduated in 1958.
Immediately after high school, Elizabeth began her distinguished career as a banker. She started at First National Bank, which later became Capitol One, where she served diligently for over 40 years until her retirement.
Beyond her professional life, Elizabeth was a woman of many cherished passions. She was an avid reader, finding joy in the pages of countless books. Her hands were rarely still, as she loved to knit and embroider, creating beautiful pieces. Her green thumb was evident in her love for gardening, and her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aromas of her cooking. Elizabeth held a special place in her heart for all the babies in the family, showering them with love. Christmas was a particularly joyous time for her, and she was known for her generous spirit, always thinking of her family.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her loving parents, Reece and Honor Lee Smith; her brothers, Reece Edward Smith, William Harold Smith, and Terry Wayne Smith; her sister, Judy Gail Sneed; and her brother-in-law, Richard Gallas.
She is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Robert Houston Smith and wife Reverend Cherrice Smith, Jerry Lynn Smith and wife Renee, Russell Lee Smith and wife Pam, Michael Dean Smith and wife Vickie, and Marion Joan Gallas. She also leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Juanita Smith and Penny Smith; her brother-in-law, Clyde Sneed; six nephews, nine nieces, numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Smith, Mikey Smith, Lynn Smith, Wade Smith, Rusty Smith, and Dylan Barton. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Smith, Christopher Sneed, Clyde Sneed, Kaine Smith, Ed Smith, Mike Smith, and Mark Gallas.
Elizabeth's kind heart, gentle nature, and selfless love will forever be cherished by all who were blessed to know her.
