Dorothy June Akers

Dorothy June Akers, 88, of Orange, Texas, passed away on October 15, 2019, at her home surrounded by loved ones.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2019, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, Texas. Officiating will be Brother Paul Williams. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m., at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.

Born in Orange, Texas, on February 15, 1931, she was the daughter of Claude Allen Reese and Evelyn (Baker) Reese. Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Orange. She loved to read, work crossword puzzles, and spend time outside in nature. Dorothy loved her family dearly and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Evelyn Reese; son, Gary Richard; brother, Rodger Reese; and her grandson, Kevin Odom.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Sherry Parish and husband Will and Dianne Speece and husband Mike; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Devin Fults, Larry David Fults, Terry Cammack, and Matt Hillin.
