Obituary
Donald was born in Charleston, WV, on December 28, 1951, he was the son of John and Ruth Crawley. He graduated from Lutcher Stark High School in Orange, TX. In 1973 he received a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas in Austin before getting his graduate degree from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. Donald married his wife Elizabeth in October of 1982 and had their only child, Stephen, several years later. He spent 40 years in the oil industry spending a majority of his time at Gulf Oil Refinery in Port Arthur, TX and Alliance Refinery in Belle Chase, LA before retiring in the summer of 2015. Donald had a tremendous love for the outdoors. He loved camping and hiking in the mountains with family and friends. Given the chance he loved to tee it up and golf was one of his favorite ways to spend an evening after work. He loved growing vegetables but loved his Satsuma trees in particular. He spent countless hours on the water with Stephen chasing fish wherever there was enough water to launch a boat.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Crawley.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Armstrong Crawley; son, Stephen Crawley; brothers Bill (Kathy) Crawley of Orange, TX and Bob (Barbara) of Austin, TX; father-in-law, Bob Armstrong of Orange, TX; sister-in-law, Martha (Randy) Armstrong Feagin of Orange, TX; niece, Sharon Crawley Kelso of Costa Mesa, CA; niece Amanda Walker of Vista, CA; niece Sara (Danny) Mier of Vista, CA. There are also many friends and family who will mourn and celebrate his life.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
A memorial service will be held following the visitation at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, at 2:00 p.m.
