David “Ryan” Sweat, 37, of Carrollton, Texas, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014.
Funeral services will be 2pm, Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Randy Williams. Burial will follow at Dougharty Memorial Cemetery in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm, Tuesday at the funeral home.
Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on June 10, 1976, Ryan was the son of David Craig Sweat and Kim (Bush) Williams. He worked as a network engineer and enjoyed family, music, and friends. Ryan was an avid U.T. and Dallas Cowboy football fan. He had a passion for music and could play the guitar, as well as the drums.
Ryan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Onnie Sweat; grandfather, Allen Glen Bush; and step-grandfather, Edgar Williams.
He is survived by his father, David Sweat and wife, Tina of Beaumont; mother, Kim Williams and husband, Randy of Austin; grandparents, Shirley and Morris Havard of Groves, Jeanne Williams of Jasper; and siblings, Christina Sterling of Bridge City, Reagan Sweat of Port Arthur, Shawn Sachs and wife, Kaleena of Port Arthur, Dylan Benoit of Nederland, Alex Sweat of Groves, and Trayse Williams of Seattle, Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Burn Hospital in Galveston; 815 Market Street, Galveston, Texas 77550.

I have worked with Ryan for the last 7 years, and have enjoyed his company at Bdubs, the late nights working in the "war room" battling nation states and other nasty viruses and during the data center buildout, his love for music (even if he said van Halen sucked - lol) He had a big heart and would never say anything bad about anyone. He was very humble and did not enjoy the spotlight. Nothing made him happier than working on a difficult task. It is going to be difficult to walk past his desk and know he will never be there..... But I know he is now happy and content in God's arms, my prayers will be with him and for his parents and family, who I had the pleasure of meeting. May you watch over us at work, until we meet again.

I met Ryan when we were hired together 7 years ago and enjoyed his friendship, humor, and genius whether we were stuck at our desks or on out on our bikes. Our team is our family here and we did many activities outside of work (such as our rides, life event celebrations, online games) that transcended any definition of "co-worker or teammate". He will be missed far more than we can express and our team will forever remember the greatness Ryan blessed us with every time we had for work or play.
