Born in Eric, Oklahoma, on May 3, 1950, he was the son of Leon Wayne Terry and Mary Jo (Kramer) Terry. Darrell graduated from Lamar University with a degree in electrical engineering. At the age of 34, he pursued a lifelong dream of being an entrepreneur and began his business with Primerica. Darrell became an immediate success due to his determination, strong work ethic, and his great passion for making a difference in the lives of his clients and business associates. These qualities distinguished him in his field and he received numerous awards and accolades. The highlight of his career was being inducted into the Primerica Wall of Fame, an honor bestowed on those in the top of their field. Although Darrell was extremely accomplished and won numerous awards, the underlying secret for his success was not to be an award winner but to be a life changer.

He was a very devoted family man and met his wife of 43 years at church. It was love at first sight and he proposed on their second date. He knew immediately that she was the one that God had placed in his life to become wife and life partner. It was the beginning of a love that grew stronger with each passing day. Darrell loved to spend time with his family, especially his 8 grandchildren who he saw as his greatest legacy. Family was the driving force within his life and he will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

While family is incredibly important, Darrell knew that the source of all good things was his Father in Heaven. That relationship was the foundation for all he did in life. He was a servant at heart which was evidenced in his daily walk as an elder at the 9th and Elm Church of Christ.
He was an integral part of numerous ministries of the church. His most recent passion was helping the community recover from the devastation of Hurricane Harvey.

Darrell is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Toni ; parents, Leon and Mary Terry; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arden Edward Green and Vonda Green; children, Ben Terry and wife Melinda, of Beaumont, Rachel Robison and husband Chadwick, of Orange, and Aron Yellott, of Morristown, TN; grandchildren, Mia and Mollie Yellot, Isabella, Olivia, Gracelyn, and Naomi Terry, and Daryl Arden and Truman Robison; and his brother, Rick Terry and wife Leslie, of Oklahoma City, OK. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Justin Yellott.

Serving as pallbearers will be the Terry Hierarchy Regional Vice Presidents and grandson, Truman Robison.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Hurricane Harvey Disaster Fund of 9th and Elm Church of Christ at 501 9th St., Orange, TX 77630.
