D. M. Gordy

Delbert M. Gordy, 87, of Orangefield, Texas passed away on October 11, 2019, at his home in Orangefield.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Cody Hogden, of First Baptist Church in Orangefield. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 14, 2019 at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Orange, Texas, on April 17, 1932, he was the son of Clarence Chaney Gordy and Azele (LeBlanc) Gordy. D. M. worked for DuPont in Orange for many years. In his younger years, he rodeoed. D. M. enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, processing his own meat, and re-loading his ammunition. He loved family get-togethers and barbequing. His family meant the world to him. D. M. will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Aleze Gordy; his loving wife, Millie Gordy; his daughter, Debbie Wells; his brothers, Howard Gordy and C. J. Gordy; and his sisters, Lottie Harrington, Thelma Moore, and Mary Alice Hoffpauir.

He is survived by his children, Pamela Milligan of Orange, Brian Keith Gordy of Orange, Quentin Gordy of Orange, Wayne Wiggins and wife Cheryl of Orange, Rhonda Ladner of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, Rudy Ladner of Bay St. Louis, Randy Ladner and wife Valerie of Bay St. Louis, Russell Ladner and wife Stephanie of Bay St. Louis, and Ronnie Ladner and wife Mandy of Bay St. Louis; as well as many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rodney Gordy, Cody Gordy, Clayton Ladner, Bryce Perry, Gilbert Michel, and Roy Necaise.

I am so sorry for your loss..Delbert and Millie would come and visit my Mom which was his aunt Blanche Gordy Butera often in South Houston....I remember when it was hard for my Mom to get up from a chair Delbert went and bought her an electric lift chair ...We loved your Mom and Dad ...Kathy Butera Chumley ...
