Obituary
Cody Pannell, 53, of Orange, Texas, passed away on December 31, 2020, at his home in Orange.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Turning Point Church in Vidor. Officiating will be George Gau, John Fortenberry, and Todd Whittington. Burial will follow at Wilkinson Cemetery in Orange. Military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps and the Southeast Texas Veterans Group.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 8, 2021, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Dallas, Texas, on December 15, 1967, he was the son of Benny Pannell and Phyllys (Ice) Pannell. Cody proudly served his country in United States Marine Corps in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Restore Hope in Somalia. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother who loved his family dearly. Cody’s children were always his number one priority. A perfect night for him was being with his family with a box of pizza, watching a Cowboy’s game. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benny and Phyllys Pannell.
He is survived by his loving wife, Christie Jo Pannell; his children, William Peyton Ellis, Tori Shayne Pannell, and Courtney Pannell-Smith and husband Brady; his grandchild, Elana Smith; and his brothers, Paulie Thrasher and wife Margary and Benny Pannell and wife Martha.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael J. Evans, Steven Evans, Pablo Salinas, Terry Siebe, William Ellis, and Edwin Smith.
