Obituary

Clyda Cooley
Clyda Cooley, 90, of Bridge City, passed away on March 16, 2022, in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Bridge City. Officiating will be Keith Royal. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., March 19, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Bridge City.

Born in Warren, Texas, on March 14, 1932, she was the daughter of Clyde Thompson and Catherine D. (Harris) Thompson. Clyda dedicated many years of her life to teaching Sunday School at First Baptist Church and Second Baptist Church in Bridge City. She was a talented cook and baker, famous for her chick n dumplins, fudge and coconut pie. Clyda loved sewing and often crafted clothes and jackets for her children. She took up macrame, and like most things she learned, she excelled in her craft. Clyda was a wonderful wife, mother, aunt and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Catherine Thompson; and brother, R.A. Thompson.

She is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Charles Cooley; children, Michael Jeter, Michelle Jeter, Gary Jeter; several grandchildren; brother, Wayne Thompson and wife Linda; sister, Rosalind Gibson; niece, Tami Hollie and husband Duwayne; nephew, Gary Thompson; and exteneded family and friends.

I was Clyda's mail carrier for many years and she would give me the most delicious bread that she had just baked as I brought the mail to them. She was a very giving person whom touched so many. May God comfort Charles and her children.
