Obituary
Betty B. Scales, 90, of Orangefield, Texas, passed away on July 22, 2017, in Orange, Texas
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Oangefield, Texas. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City, Texas.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, Texas.
Born in El Dorado, Arkansas, on January 14, 1927, Mrs. Scales was the daughter of James Arthur Brannon and Lois Moree (Wardlaw) Brannon. She was a loving wife and mother who owned and operated Betty’s Hair Salon and later opened Betty’s Jewelry Closet.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Cleborn Scales, Sr.; granddaughter, Shellie Lynn Tichenor; brothers, James Arthur Brannon, Jr., Robert Larone Brannon and William Scott Brannon; sisters, Cheri Moree Daugherty, Linda Joy Kennedy. The family also wishes to acknowledge all of Mrs. Scales nieces and nephews who have preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Cherion Lee Shaban and husband, Gregory, of Katy, Texas; Cecil Cleborn Scales, Jr. of Orangefield, Texas; grandson, Christopher Samuel Beard and wife, Kirsten of Spring, Texas; great grandsons, Aaron Craig Meachum of Denver, Colorado, Jonathan Samuel Meachum of Dalhart, Texas and Michael Christopher Beard of Austin, Texas; great granddaughters, Nicole Christine Tichenor and Emily Grace Tichenor of Michigan; sister-in-law, Diane Brannon of Fort Worth, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
