Bennie “Penny” Wheat, 81, of Orange passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, January 12, 2015.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm, Friday, January 16, 2015 at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Brother Lanny Wheat. Entombment will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 6:00pm-8:00pm, Thursday, January 15th, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Mrs. Wheat was born in Houston on March 31, 1933 to the late Carl and Elsie (Ellis) DeForke. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend. She enjoyed fishing, playing bingo with friends, and watching Judge Judy. Most of all, she loved spending time with Bill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy Francis Wheat; and brothers, Lee DeForke and Carl DeForke, Jr.
She is survived by her children, Ernest Miller, Jr. and wife, Ramona, Terry Allen Wheat and wife, Jamie, and Dianna Miller Sales and husband, Tim; grandchildren, Sean P. Miller, Jake Allen Wheat, Ashley Cameron Wheat, Justin Menard, Jenny Menard Daigle, Sawyer Sales, Roman Sales, Madison Nicole Kay, and Brayden Hunter Smith; great-grandchildren, Olivia Quinn, Allie, Kaleb, Kaydence, Nora, Hali, and Jacy.

MY MOTHER MARY FORD & PENNY WERE FRIENDS FOR YEARS. AFTER MOTHERS DEATH I WOULD RUN INTO PENNY HERE IN LAKE CHARLES FROM TIME TO TIME AND WE WOULD VISIT. Penny was such a big part of our lives. I will always remember the poker games we all played till wee hours in the mornings. We had so much fun. She was a sweet lady and will be in our hearts forever.
