Barbara was a wonderful long-time friend from high school. After several of us finished college, we formed La Finesse Bridge Club meeting weekly so we would be sure to get together. Barbara, always a wonderful bridge player, was one of three who knew how to keep score. The rest of us liked to visit. I know she played internationally on the Internet. On one of the truly saddest days of my life, I buried my aunt, who had reared me, at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont. She was my only relative at that time. I was standing by the grave, and during the service, I looked up and saw Barbara standing beside me. You don't EVER forget things like that. In later years, she and I and another classmate took a cruise up the Mississippi River. Barbara found a bridge group immediately and spent a most enjoyable cruise playing bridge. So glad my husband and I got to be with Barbara at our dinner table and on the Neches River boat ride at our 60th high school reunion. Sincerely with love, Bette Stead
