Virginia “Jenny” Sandefer, 87, of Orange, passed away on March 21, 2015, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 23, 2015, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Chaplain Jason Sandefer of Gentiva Hospice in Livingston, Texas. A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 23, 2015 at Shiloh Cemetery in Dry Creek, Louisiana. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Beaumont, Texas, on October 7, 1927, she was the daughter of James Prentice Peveoto and Carrie Ann Rogers Peveoto. Jenny grew up in Port Neches, Texas where she graduated from Port Neches High School. She married Morris E. Sandefer on August 1, 1948 at First Baptist Church Orange. Jenny worked at First National Bank in Orange and Bridge City Bank in Bridge City. She and her late husband, Morris, also had a Christmas tree farm in Sugartown, Louisiana after they retired. She loved traveling with her family, going to the beach and spending time outdoors. She cherished her church family at First Baptist Church of Bridge City, where she was a member and taught Sunday school for many years. Jenny was a member of the ladies auxiliary program and volunteered for several hospitals in the Golden Triangle area. She had 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and was a loyal fan of each one of them and proud of all their accomplishments. Jenny lived each day treating people with kindness, respect, and love. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.P. and Carrie Peveoto; husband, Morris E Sandefer, Sr.; brothers, James Peveoto and wife Daisy and John Peveoto; brothers-in-law, Gene Broom, L.H. Sandefer Jr. and wife, Lillian Ruth and Elton Sandefer and mother and father-in-law, L.H. Sandefer, Sr. and Clara Sandefer.

She is survived by her son, Morris Sandefer Jr. and wife, Barbara of Orange; daughters, Cindy Claybar and husband, Ambrose of Orange and Cathy Hatton and husband, Mark of Lago Vista, Texas; sisters, Gale Peveoto Broom of Johnson City, Texas, Dixie Peveoto of Borne, Texas and Clara Sandefer Harlow and husband, Paul of DeRidder, Louisiana; grandchildren, Teresa Carruth and husband, Bryan, Lloyd Sandefer and fiancé, Brandi, Jason Sandefer and wife, Jamie, Richard Sandefer, Angie Claybar, Joey Claybar and wife, Melanie, Brant Hatton and wife, Keyontaè, Shannon Federoff and husband, Chris and Melissa Hines and husband, Bill; great-grandchildren, Hannah Carruth, Ian Carruth, Easton Sandefer, Bethany Sandefer, Ethan Sandefer, Carter Claybar, Colton Claybar, Kailey Hines, Mary Hines, Will Hines, Kira Federoff, Curtis Federoff, Aniyah Hearvy, Rhyder Hatton and Rebel Hatton; niece, Mary Beth Castillo and cherished friends, Maxine Slaydon and Milton Hubbard.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joey Claybar, Lloyd Sandefer, Richard Sandefer, Bryan Carruth, Brant Hatton and Chris Federoff.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Red Cross, 3901 I10, Orange, Texas 77630.
