“It’s not cocky if you back it up” was a motto ingrained in the mind of Tony Wade Dallas and all who knew him knew this. Tony received his education at West Orange-Stark High School and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University. He also attended Panola College, where he found joy in playing college baseball until a shoulder injury brought that chapter to an end. Despite this setback, he continued to find fulfillment in many different aspects of life. Competitive, confident, and service-oriented were a few other ways to describe this man that thrived on being in the mix of life. Lion’s Club, Texas Lion’s Camp, United Way of Orange County, WOCCISD School Board member, Camp Fire USA, Orange Mardi Gras, Knights of Columbus, football and baseball coach and a host of other local organizations all benefited from his dedication to serve. He will be remembered fondly by those whose lives he touched, particularly through his community service and dedication to youth sports. He was a well-regarded figure in the community as the owner of Dallas Insurance Agency, and co-owner of TK Insurance Services.

He served diligently until a diagnosis of ALS in 2019, when he then turned into the face of Team Dallas, a non-profit organization created in his honor that would go on to raise and donate over a quarter-million dollars towards ALS research and awareness.

Tony chose to “live life” in wake of this diagnosis and not lie down in defeat. He continued working through out these 7 years and even worked the Friday of his hospitalization. Sarah McNeil, along with Liz McKee and Linda Nies, allowed him to be part of the everyday work life. To say that those three women played an integral part in his life is an understatement.

He would consider his greatest accomplishment his family. He went above and beyond for them and loved with abandon. The memories will forever live in their hearts. And, as he lived his life with enthusiasm and gusto, his son, Chad, said “he was robbed of time, but not of life!”

Proceeding him in death was his mother, Bennie Dallas; his father, John Dallas; grandparents, Belle and Jack Owens; aunt and uncle Terrell and Carol Stewart; aunt, Connie Owens; father-in-law, Merlin Broussard. He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart of 35 years, Nancy Leigh Dallas; brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Kandis Dallas; daughter and son in law, Leigh Anne and Brodrick Harrell; his sons and daughters in law, Jack and Reid Dallas, and Chad and Madison Dallas; granddaughters Drue Erin Dallas, Adeline Honey Harrell and Blaire McKenzie Dallas; mother in law Joyce Broussard; and a host of sisters and brothers in law, nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins.

To continue his legacy, we ask that anyone who feels called to donate, to please donate to Team Dallas at: https://venmo.com/u/TeamDallasALS

All funds will be donated to Team Gleason Foundation in loving memory of Tony. To learn more about Team Gleason and all this organization does for the ALS community, read more here: https://teamgleason.org

The love and support never went unnoticed. So, in the words of TD “#F***ALS”
