Sherry Lin Sterns

On April 10, 2025, Sherry Lin Sterns passed away unexpectedly at the age of 78. She grew up on a quarter horse farm in Michigan along with her brother, Gary Lingle. Sherry graduated from Warren high school in 1964 where she was an honor student, and later attended Michigan State University majoring in art. Her sense of humor was reflected in her art.

Her real passion was horses. She began showing horses in grade school and gravitated towards the speed events, including pole bending, keyhole, and especially barrel racing, which she pursued throughout her life. Not only was she a skilled rider, she was a gifted horse trainer, and a passionate riding instructor. Many of her students, both humans and horses, went on to become successful competitors. The ribbons, trophies, belt buckles, and saddles she won could fill a room (and they did!).

She moved to Orange TX around 1980 along with her husband. They divorced shortly thereafter, and she remained in Texas becoming employed by Orange Public schools as a librarian. Her students and pets (horses, cats, and dogs) were her constant companions.

Sherry was a proud Aunt staying connected with her brother, cousins, and nephews through cards and phone calls. She never missed a birthday or holiday. She also had a passion for Facebook and kept in touch with her many friends there. She was preceded in death by her parents and her significant other. She is survived by her brother, nephew Ryan Lingle, great nephew Christian Lingle all of whom reside in Nebraska, along with several cousins.
