Funeral Services for Rena Jean Blackstock Mills will be held at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home, 1155 North 11th St., Beaumont, Texas on April 26, 2024, at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Bro. Jeffery Lowe will officiate.

 

Visitation will be held at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home on April 26, 2024, at 1:00pm.

 

Rena Jean joined her Heavenly Father on April 21, 2024, at St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital in Lufkin, Texas. She was born on July 16, 1928, in Dreka, Texas and was the 12th of 13 children. She was just 3 months shy of her 96th birthday. Her family moved to San Augustine, Fords Corner Community, when she was very young. She attended Rosevine elementary and then San Augustine schools. She married Charles (Sam) Lorenzo Mills, Jr on July 9, 1948. They moved to Beaumont, and she worked for Southwestern Bell as an operator. She retired from Lamar State Bank in Beaumont. In 1967, Sam and Rena Jean moved to Lumberton, Tx. Sam passed away in 1993 and Rena Jean lived in Lumberton by herself for 30 years where she enjoyed her sister n law, Geraldine Blackstock (Clifton). She recently moved to Pinecrest Retirement Community, Independent Living, in Lufkin, Texas. Rena Jean was a devout Christian woman, and she has been a member of Crestwood Baptist Church in Lumberton for 44 years.

 

She is survived by her daughters Sharron Mills and Becky Kaminski (Allen), her son John Scott Mills (Linda), Grandchildren, Courtney Hutson (Jimmy), Misty Howell (Billy), Scott Mills and Chris Mills.

She was so very proud of her 7 great grandchildren, Brittany, Chloe, Kaitlyn, Sadie Mae, Gann, Lane and August. She is also survived by her brother Burnice Blackstock of San Augustine.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Nannie Payne Blackstock, brothers, twin babies Alvin and Calvin, Jimmy Blackstock, Cleron Blackstock and twins Clifton Blackstock and Clyde Blackstock.

Her sisters Lucille Smith, Dollie Mae Lout, twins Adele Smith and Odell Wagstaff and Etah Donahoe.
