Patsy Nell Viator

March 24, 1937 — January 30, 2026

Orange, Texas

Patsy Nell Bland Viator, age 88, passed peacefully from this life on Friday January 30, 2026,

leaving behind a legacy defined by faith, family, service, and a spirit as strong as it was loving.

Born to Percy and Rachel Michell Bland on March 29, 1937, she grew up in a lively household with three brothers and four sisters, a foundation that shaped her lifelong devotion to family and community. She married the love of her life, Orey Viator, and together they shared 62 years of unwavering partnership. Side by side, they raised four boys and one girl, building a home filled with laughter, hard work, and the kind of love that leaves deep roots. Her family grew to include 11 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren, each one cherished and celebrated.

A proud graduate of Mauriceville High School, she spent her life pouring herself into the community she loved. She was always the room mother, the one who showed up, organized, baked, decorated, and made every child feel special. She sold Avon, Sara Coventry jewelry, and even Cajun hot tamales, always finding a way to stay busy, independent, and connected. She worked at TJ&A’s, served as President of the Little League Auxiliary, and was honored as a Parade Marshal for the Mauriceville Crawfish Festival. She helped start the Senior Citizen Christmas Supper, a tradition that continues to bring joy to countless families. Her faith was central to her life: she was President of the Altar Society, a Charter Member of St. Maurice Catholic Church, and played a key role in helping get the church built. She taught her family her faith not through lectures or demands, but through the quiet, steady way she lived her life. Her example — her generosity, her devotion to service, her commitment to her church, and her unwavering belief in doing what was right — became the foundation on which her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren built their own lives. Her faith was lived, not spoken, and it shaped generations. She also served her community as an Election Judge, ensuring fairness and integrity in every vote. Her hands were rarely still. She sewed, crocheted, embroidered, and painted ceramics — creating gifts, keepsakes, and memories that will be treasured for generations. She loved to dance, and she made sure every one of her children and grandchildren learned how to dance too. Her energy filled every room, and her determination

— sometimes hard headed, always strong willed — made her a natural leader.

Patsy loved life’s simple joys, especially the moments spent laughing and competing around a card table. She enjoyed trips to the casino, where she never met a stranger, and she cherished playing Spades and Bourré with family and friends. Those games weren’t just games — they were gatherings filled with stories, teasing, and the kind of laughter that echoes for years. Her seat at the table will be deeply missed.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Orey Viator; parents; Percy Bland, Rachel Michell Bland; her great grandparents Richard Bland and Mary Jedrey Bland; her brothers Jack Bland and Gene Bland; and her sisters Dorothy Bland, Iris Bland, and Ouida Pearl Bland. She is survived by her children: T-Ray Viator and wife Corliss, Ricky Viator and wife Deborah, Jeff Viator

and wife Teresa, Jerry Viator and wife Staci, and Kathy Viator Keath. She is also survived by her sister Mary Jane Bland Johnson Trigg and her brother Tommy Bland and wife Shirley. Her grandchildren — Ashley Foy and husband Aslone, Lindsay Welch and husband Kevin, Peyton Viator and wife Cheyenne, Joseph Viator and wife Jessica, Casey Viator and wife Megan, Jennifer Seago and husband Shayne, Julianne Gillam and husband Kyle, Jacie Gilbert and husband Derek, Balie Viator and Madison Baker, Stuart Viator and Makinsey Chipman, and Valerie Keath — and her great grandchildren — Drake, Laina, Landry, Gentry, Ellie, Rachel, Shiloh, Zach, Brazos, Knighton, Lane, Lucas, Brooklyn, Benjamin, Sloane, Jolene, Louis, Lynnleigh, Layla, Sawyer, Asher, Mathis, Walker, Tatum, Molly, and Bishop — will carry her memory forward with pride.

Her life was full, her love was fierce, and her legacy is forever, she will be remembered for her warm smile, her steady faith, her love of family gatherings, and the way she made everyone feel welcome at her table. Her legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured, the values she instilled, and the memories she leaves behind.
