Michael James Turner, 56, of Orange, Texas, passed away on April 22, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. 

 

Memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2024, at the VFW in Orange.

 

Born in Orange, Texas, on November 2, 1967, he was the son of Jerry Franklin Turner and Gracie (Owers) Turner. Mike was a man of many talents and passions. He graduated from Orangefield High School in 1986 and then later graduated from Lamar Institute of Technology in 1988 with a degree in Drafting. After graduating he shared a cabinet and woodworking business with his father called T&T. In his free time, Mike indulged in woodworking and enjoyed attending The Renaissance Festival where he first professed his love to Brandee. Known for his great sense of humor and eloquent writing, Mike was a creative soul who often wrote sweet poems for his wife. Mike enjoyed playing the guitar, and his affinity for music led him to admire Stevie Ray Vaughn and he cherished moments traveling – especially on cruises and beach excursions. Mike rooted for the Alabama Crimson Tide Football Team, the Dallas Cowboys, and had a soft spot for NASCAR. He found solace in watching old westerns and classic TV shows. Fondly known as Chico by those close to him, Mike will be remembered for his kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents Jerry Turner and Gracie Turner but leaves behind a legacy of love with his surviving family including his wife, Brandee Turner; son, Brandon Penick; daughter, Christian Ferguson and her husband Joshua; grandchildren, Jacob Ferguson and one on the way; siblings, Vicki and Paul Mowery, Toni and Don Thompson, Marla and Jeff Myers; aunt, Patsy Owers; stepmother, Vergie Turner; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other dear family members and friends.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
