Michelle "Shell" Mathis

Michelle “Shell” Mathis, 45, of Orange, Texas, passed away on March 8, 2026, in Houston, wrapped in her husband’s arms.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Visitation will begin prior to the service at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born on June 19, 1980, she was the daughter of Loy Zane Barton and Anita Barton. Michelle dedicated over 25 years of her life to her career as a hairstylist at Casual Corner, Hair & Co., and Blossom Med Spa. Her passion for her work extended to being a talented lash technician as well. She built a successful hair and lash clientele, a testament to her hard work and dedication. In addition to her career, Michelle enjoyed baking and cherished weekend trips where she would shop and spend quality time with her husband. Her love for Christmas was like none other; she made sure everyone felt joy in the holiday. Michelle was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She found immense joy in her role as "Honey" to her new grandbaby, Bostyn Zane, who she adored and cherished deeply. Her family was her everything, and she made sure to create lasting memories with them. Michelle's comforting presence and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her father, Loy Zane Barton.

She is survived by her loving husband of almost 15 years, Jacob Mathis; mother, Anita Barton; sons, Sklyer Bohn and his partner Quinn Keil, Seth Bohn, and Slade Mathis; daughter, Samantha Bohn and fiancé Mason Ryan; grandson, Bostyn Zane Ryan; numerous other loving family and friends.
