Michael Lewis Sulsar, 75, of Orange, Texas, passed away on June 1, 2025, in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Macarthur Heights Baptist Church located at 3600 Nightingale St.in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Jay Thomas.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Macarthur Heights Baptist Church in Orange.

Born in Deport, Texas, on November 15, 1949, he was the son of Lewis Warren Sulsar and Elizabeth Hope Wright Sulsar. A man of integrity and dedication, his career journey included valued positions with Sears, Loomis Fargo, and Claybar Funeral Home, where he touched the lives of many through his service. He graduated from West Orange High School in 1968. His lifelong passion for learning extended beyond formal education; he was a devoted reader and had a deep appreciation for history. Whether immersing himself in books or engaging in thoughtful conversations, Michael exemplified the spirit of a lifelong learner. As the longest standing member of Macarthur Heights Baptist Church, Michael’s impact was felt deeply within his community. He served with distinction as a Deacon, as well as Church Treasurer, and Building and Grounds. His unwavering commitment to the church was a testament to his values and character. Michael's interests were diverse and enriched his life in many ways. He had a talent for baking and cooking, often bringing joy to those around him through his delicious meals and desserts. An enthusiast of classic cars, he spent countless hours working on his vehicles, finding fulfillment in each restoration project. In moments of leisure, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, such as savoring a good cigar while floating in his pool, and he was known for his sharp wit that could light up any gathering. Michael will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments and community involvement but also for the warmth and joy he brought to those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of service, love for learning, and genuine kindness will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Warren and Elizabeth Hope Sulsar; his wife, Bobbye Ann Sanders Sulsar; and his sister, Sue Sulsar.

He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Stephenson Sulsar; his daughter, Janna Woods and husband, Ryan, of St. Louis, Missouri; his son, Davis Foreman and wife, Emily, of Pittstown, New Jersey; his step sons, John Stephenson and wife, Wendy, of Little Cypress, and Scott Stephenson and wife, Katrina, of Orange; his grandchildren, Alex Foreman, Emma Foreman, Baylee Foreman, Annabel Stephenson, Huntley Stephenson, and Zoe Wolfford; his brothers, Randy Sulsar and wife, Julia, and Barry Sulsar and partner, Cindy; his sister, Beth Molder and husband, Curtis; and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
