Michael Laine Cerny
Michael Laine Cerny, 77, of Orange, Texas, passed away on July 2, 2025, at home.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on January 3, 1948, he was the son of Laine Donald Cerny and Doris Lee (Fink) Cerny. He was a retired Navy veteran, having served for 22 years. In this time, he reached the esteemed rank of Senior Master Chief E-9, a reflection of his dedication and commitment to his service. Michael dedicated over 20 years of his career to M&I Electric in Beaumont, where he was known for his hard work and expertise. Alongside this, he also pursued his passion as a car mechanic, sharing his talents with those around him. Michael was very kind and thoughtful; those who knew him often described him as a wonderful man. He had a deep love for his family and enjoyed helping others, always shying away from any recognition for his good deeds. His humility set him apart as he quietly made a difference in the lives of many. Michael was also a proud member of the Assembly of God in Mauriceville, where he was actively involved in the community, contributing his time and effort to support others. He will be remembered fondly for his caring nature and the positive impact he had on the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Laine D. Cerny and Doris Cerny; wife, Mary Cerny; sister, Kathi Rogers; son, Mathan Cerny; siter-in-law, Debbie Cerny; nephews, Jeremy McClellan and Travis McClellan; great niece, Hailey Higgins; great nephew, Joshua Sanders; uncle, John Cerny; and cousin, Jeff Cerny.
He is survived by his son, Craig Cerny and wife Margaret; daughters, Marlo Wagner and husband Richard, Nicole Cerny, and Shanon Fox Cerny; grandchildren, Zack, Krystin, Lauren, Jessica, Laine, Jacob, Michael, Jared, Bernadette, and Marybeth; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brody, Seth, Brantley, June, Josef, Samuel, Levee, Fayelynn, Feleena, Emmylou, Aiden, Destiny; siblings, Pat Hartman and husband Phil, Cindy McClellan and husband Ken, Donald Cerny, and Marybeth Hartman; and his best friend since high school, Chuck Higdon; a ship load of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephew.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
