Marie Rhame Mitchell

Marie Rhame Mitchell, 96, of West Orange, Texas, passed away on March 9, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 13, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Jeff Bell. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn in West Orange.

Visitation will begin prior to the service at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 13, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Shelby County, Texas, on June 20, 1929, she was the daughter of Ransom Steven Rhame and Meta (Mueller) Rhame. Marie was a beloved and loyal wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She married Curtis Mitchell on October 20, 1946, and together they created a loving home filled with warmth and faith. Marie loved the Lord and found joy in spending time with her family. She was known for her gentle spirit, always ready with a kind word and a warm smile. Marie had a great passion for life. She enjoyed watching game shows on TV, was an avid reader, and relished the challenge of word puzzles. Marie will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Mitchell; grandson, Gentry Mitchell; parents, Ransom and Meta Rhame; and seven other siblings.

She is survived by her two sons, Jerry Mitchell and wife Donna and Curtis D. Mitchell and wife Karen; grandchildren, Michael Mitchell and wife Geri, Todd Mitchel and wife Belinda, and Mesha Allen and husband Kevin; great grandchildren, Brandon Mitchell, Nathaniel Mitchell, Donovan Mitchell, Kaidance Allen, Davin Mitchell, Ayden Jablouski, Aubrey Mitchell, Macey Rollins, and one great great granddaughter.

She was blessed with many friends, church family and loyal caregivers, especially Mike Shugart and Lois Hughes.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Shurgart, Kevin Allen, Todd Mitchell, Donovan Mitchell, Michael Mitchell, and Brandon Mitchell.
