Lydia Guedry Currie, 102 of Beaumont Texas went to be with the Lord on June 23, 2025 in Beaumont Texas after saying goodbye to her family and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont Texas. Officiating will be Larry Watson of Angelton, Texas.
Born in China Texas on December 19, 1922. She was the daughter of Bailey GUEDRY and Lillian (Conklin) Guedry. She was the oldest of five siblings which included D.M.(Buster) Guedry, Audry Wheeler, Myrtle Schofield and Harry Lee Guedry, Sr.
She was affectionately known as Gigi by her family and Lydia by her many friends. Lydia was a loving, caring person always thinking of other people. After retirement from Sun oil company where she worked for 32 years in the oil accounting department, she retired to take care of her mother. After her mother passed away. She took care of her aunt until her passing. Along the way she was the babysitter for her Grand Children and any friend who needed a hand.
Lydia was a devout Christian, who loved the Lord. She attended the Westwood Bible church where she taught Sunday school and played the piano.
She loved arts and crafts. Her specialty was Christmas tree ornaments. She made many different types that she would give away to friends and especially any children that came to visit her. Lately she was worried that she ran out of ornaments to give away. She was always thinking of others.
Her real passion was collecting dolls. Anyone who went to her apartment was met by dolls everywhere. She had all of the Christmas Barbie dolls along with dolls of all makes and kind from all over the world. She either bought them or they were given to her by friends and her family. She would display them proudly and knew exactly where each one came from, and who gave them to her or where and when she had bought them.
She is survived by her son, Thomas, Edgar Currie Jr, two grandchildren John Taylor Currie and Richard, Todd Currie and four great grandchildren, Caroline Swan Currie, John, Davis Currie, Nathan, Thomas Currie and Benjamin Reed Currie. She had many nieces and nephews as well as many loyal friends.
