Lonnie Lester Givens, 75, of Orange, Texas, passed away on May 17, 2025, in Beaumont.
The family will be holding a celebration of life to honor Lonnie at a later date.
Born in Yellow Pine, Alabama, on August 31, 1949, he was the son of Sweety Givens and Louella Smith Givens. For 17 years, Lonnie was the proud owner of the Capistrano bar in Orange, Texas, where he fostered a sense of community and camaraderie among his patrons. His establishment became a place where friends gathered and laughter echoed, reflecting his passion for bringing people together. Patrons still fondly remember the bar's famous "Train Shot" where customers would take a shot whenever they heard the horn of the train that runs nearby. Beyond his work at the bar, Lonnie had a profound love for music. His appreciation for melodies and rhythms provided the soundtrack to many cherished moments throughout his life, often shared with friends and family, whom he cherished above all. His relationships were built on love, loyalty, and genuine respect, qualities that endeared him to everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Melissa Givens; his daughter, Courtney Whitlock of San Angelo, Texas; his son Michael Givens and his wife, Hailey; his grandchildren, Cade Givens, Kora Whitlock and Raylynn Givens; his fur baby, Kilo; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
