Linda Marshall Cockrell
Linda Marshall Cockrell peacefully passed at home on April 8, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., June 3, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. It will be led by Linda’s son-in-law, Chaplain Colonel Christopher Dickey.
Linda was born April 3, 1950, in LeCompte, Louisiana, to C.M. Marshall and Jean Atkinson Speer. She was a graduate from West Orange High School class of 1968. She worked as a hairdresser alongside her husband Fletcher Cockrell, Sr. at Fletcher’s Hairdressers in Orange. They moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas where they opened another Fletcher’s Hairdressers and operated in the Village for the next 20 years. Linda and Fletcher attended Village Bible Church where Linda was an active member. They moved back to Texas three years ago and settled in Seabrook, where Fletcher currently lives. Linda was a believer and follower of Jesus Christ and was baptized as a teenager. The family has great comfort that she is in Heaven surrounded by loved ones that have passed before her to our Heavenly Father.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and son, Brian Marshall Colby.
She is survived by her best friend and husband of over 40 years, Fletcher Cockrell, Sr.; daughter, Lane Colby Dickey and her husband Chaplain Christopher Dickey of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; stepson, Fletcher Cockrell, Jr. and his wife Colleen Cockrell; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
