James Darrell Royer
James Darrell Royer, 76, of Orange, Texas, passed away on January 14, 2024, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

Born in Church Point, Louisiana, on March 14, 1947, he was the son of Adolph Royer and Genevieve (Foux) Royer. Throughout his career, Darrell served as a security guard for Patriots Security. His commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of others was commendable. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Darrell was known for his warm and affectionate nature. He cherished his family dearly and always went above and beyond to provide for them. Darrell could often be found indulging in some of his favorite pastimes. He had an avid interest in watching westerns, wrestling matches, and football games. The New Orleans Saints held a special place in his heart, and he passionately cheered them on during their games. Among these activities were watching Jimmy Swaggart, whose teachings provided him with deep spiritual comfort. Additionally, he found solace in the tranquil art of fishing and crabbing. Darrell also held a special place in his heart for his truck, caring for it meticulously. He will forever be remembered for his simple yet meaningful life. His kind spirit touched all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Genevieve Royer; Aunt Bee; and brother, Carl Royer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Shirley Royer; stepchildren, Kerry Lynn Burns, Kenneth Lynn Burns, Cynthia Marie Burns, and George Greer, Jr.; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Kathy Hopkins and Sandra Arlene Guidry; and many other loving family.
