Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on October 13, 1941, he was the son of Clarence Northen and Ruth Northen. James was a dedicated member of Forest Park Methodist Church. James retired from Port Arthur ISD. He had many hobbies that occupied his time. James enjoyed working on old trucks and motorcycles, tinkering with anything he could get his hands on. During his younger years he took many trips on his motorcycle, and as he matured, he put many miles on his lawnmower. James was particular about fixing things and took pride in his work. When he wasn’t tinkering and fixing things, he was watching YouTube videos of other people tinkering and fixing things. He liked playing the dominos game “Chicken Foot” and playing with his little dog Trooper. James loved his family and spending time with them.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Northen and Ruth Northen; and his siblings, Wayne Northen, Doyle Northen, Billy Northen, Joe Mack Northen, Alicia Howard, and Mary Woodard.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Judy Northen of Beaumont, Texas; his daughters, Wendy Nobles and husband Ronnie of Beaumont, Texas, and Angela Atteberry of Nederland, Texas; his grandchildren, Corey Nobles and Jarrett Atteberry; his nieces and nephews, Kim Northen, Glen Woodard, Rich Northen, Chris Northen, Mike Northen, Carol Ann Blackwell, and Karen Landry; and numerous great nephews and nieces.
