James Dalton

September 28, 1931 — March 30, 2007

James Herbert ?Jim? Dalton, 75, of Orange, passed away Friday, March 30, 2007. He was surrounded by his loving wife, children, grandchildren and pastor.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at First United Pentecostal Church in Orange, with the Reverend Gary P. Wheeler, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Orange. Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Monday at the church.
Jim was born September 28, 1931, in Dott, West Virginia. He was the son of Luther Warren and Mabel Ann Bailey Dalton. He retired in 1987 from Pipefitter?s Local 195, was a member of First United Pentecostal Church in Orange and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Jim and his wife Odessa enjoyed a wonderful retirement with many memories. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He taught those that loved and knew him the value of working hard and to never give up when things were not going well, but most especially, he taught the values of life. Jim was the true meaning of a good man. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Mabel Ann Dalton, he is survived by his wife, Odessa Taylor Dalton; daughter, Libby Merritt; son and daughter in law, J.W. ?Jeff? and Becky Dalton; granddaughters, Jessica Dalton, Jamey Morgan, Olivia Laughlin, Alicia Merritt; grandsons, Jacob Dalton, Justin Bufford, Logan Williford and three great grandchildren.
Also surviving are his brothers, Paul Dalton of Bluefield, West Virginia, Londel Dalton of Princeton, West Virginia and Dean Dalton of Denton.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Dalton, Justin Bufford, Logan Williford, Steve Taylor, Wade Taylor, Troy Bickham and Sonnie Malish.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brinley Stafford, Sonny Neuman, Phillip Williams, Eugene Goudeau, Lloyd Hall and Larry Mayfield.
