Floyd (Eddie) Nichols, 85, of Orange, passed away on December 10, 2022, in Beaumont, Texas.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 14, at Sabine Tabernacle in Beaumont. Officiating will be Reverend James Boykin. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Sabine Tabernacle.
Born in Beaumont, Texas on February 17, 1937, he was the son of Floyd T. Nichols and Ellene (Ellison) Nichols. He attended South Park High School before transferring to Fannett High School where he graduated in 1955. Eddie was a hardworking businessman who operated many different businesses between 1960 and 2015 that were well known at their locations on the corner of Concord and Lucas in Beaumont including a Humble service station, Nichols Conoco, Robo Car Wash, Nichols Trailer Sales, Floyds Game Room, and Melvia Motors. Eddie was a generous man who was ready to make you laugh when he entered the room. He loved sports and remained an athlete playing in local softball leagues until he was close to
approaching 80 years old. He also supported sports programs at French High School where he was an honorary member of the booster club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ellene Nichols; daughter, Janet; granddaughter, Lauren Bernard; and son-in-law, Dennis Bernard.
He is survived by his daughter, Penny Worthey and husband Wes; and her mother, Janet Nichols; granddaughter Carrie Bernard Farias and Olaf; great grandchildren, Cashton, Zoie, Heidi, and Zeus; sisters, Pat Reed and Melvia Moss and close cousin, Jackie Jordan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family and friends.
