Dorothy Marie Roddam, 92, of Bridge City, Texas, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on November 27, 2025, in Silsbee, Texas. She was born in Port Arthur on September 23, 1933, to Eunice Stout Lynd and Barney Sinclair Lynd, and from the very beginning, Dorothy lived a life marked by joy, curiosity and boundless love.
Dorothy embraced adventure wherever it called. She traveled across the United States, spending time working in several national parks and exploring the beauty of the country she loved. Her travels often stretched far beyond America’s borders - she sailed on countless cruises throughout the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America, and on many of those voyages she delighted others by teaching dance lessons onboard. Her journeys also took her to Europe, where she visited the sights and people of France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland and Holland, adding treasured memories to a life richly lived.
Creative and talented in countless ways, Dorothy enjoyed needlepoint, macrame’, and oil painting. Her remarkable skill in decorating cakes grew from a hobby into a cherished local business and many in Southeast Texas celebrated life’s milestones with one of her lovingly crafted birthday, shower or wedding cakes.
Above all else, Dorothy’s life was rooted in faith. A devoted member of First Baptist Church for more than 60 years, she taught Sunday school, served on numerous committees and joyfully welcomed congregants as the official greeter until her final church service. She had a gift for connecting with people - Dorothy never met a stranger. With just a few minutes of conversation, she could brighten someone’s day, discover a shared connection or offer a warm embrace. Her kindness was effortless and genuine, drawing people toward her gentle spirit.
Dorothy passionately shared the love of God everywhere she went. Whether through conversation, prayer or handing out Bibles, she made it her mission to spread the gospel. Her life was a living testimony to the hope, grace and compassion she found in Jesus Christ.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished her husband, Doyle, throughout their 36 years of marriage and poured her heart into raising her two daughters, Darla and Dawn. When grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along, she embraced them with the same boundless love, delighting in every moment she spent with them.
