Donald Foy Freeman, 78, of Orange, Texas, passed away on May 21, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend John Bickham.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m., May 29, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Purcell, Oklahoma, on March 27, 1947, he was the son of U.C. Freeman and Odessa Lorene (Thompson). He was a man of many talents and passions. Donald’s educational journey included receiving his Bachler’s Degree in History and Physical Education. He was a four-year letterman and was selected to be a member of the All Century Team, playing football at Central State University in Oklahoma. His love for sports and storytelling made him an engaging presence in the lives of those around him. He spent 11 years as a teacher and coach, impacting the lives of many young athletes. In 1983, Donald bought Baker's Transmission and moved his family from Oklahoma City to Orange. Showcasing his skills as a hardworking car enthusiast. A proud supporter of his children and grandchildren, Donald held family dear to his heart. He cherished spending time with them and took pride in their achievements. His love for athletics was evident as he was a big supporter of programs at Little Cypress Mauriceville and other local schools in the county. Donald will be remembered for his hard work, dedication, and love for his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, U.C. and Odessa Freeman; sister, Glenda Ridge; brother-in-law, Mike Moore; and sister-in-law, Paula Freeman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Beverly Freeman; sons, Greg Freeman and wife Misti, Jeff Freeman and wife Jessica; sister-in-law, Susan Mireles and husband Derek; grandchildren, McKenzie Freeman, Parker Freeman, Tyler Freeman, Bryce Freeman and wife Hannah, Cole Freeman and Jaci, Braylee Freeman, Lindsay Norman; great grandchild, Myles Freeman; siblings, Ron Freeman and wife Jan, Carolyn Truster and husband Jim, Troy Freeman, Mike Freeman and wife Nancy, and Steve Freeman and wife Lana; brother-in-laws, Ned Parker and wife Barbara, Larry Haywood, and Don Ridge; many nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
