Darvin Nick Rothering, 93, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on January 11, 2024, peacefully at home.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., January 19, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Bridge City. Burial will follow at a later date at Old Cypress Cemetery. The family will be providing refreshments after the service.

Born in Alma, Wisconsin, on September 26, 1930, he was the son of Clarence Rothering and Alvina (Heinz) Rothering. Darvin began his career by working at a dairy after completing high school. However, his passion for automobiles soon led him to car dealerships in the Orange area. Over the years, he gained valuable experience and knowledge in the industry. Eventually opened two successful businesses – Express Auto Rentals Inc. and S&R Used Cars. For over seven decades, he served as a trusted source for quality automobiles and provided exceptional service to countless customers. Darvin was drafted into the United States Army in 1951 and served for four years before joining the National Guard for an additional two years. During his military service, Darvin had the unique opportunity to witness history being made as he witnessed the first Atomic air drop in Nevada. Outside of his professional and military endeavors, Darvin found solace in pursuing two of his favorite hobbies – woodworking and bowling. While Darvin's career achievements were impressive, his love for his family was unparalleled. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones and always made them a top priority. Darvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who brought joy and laughter to those around him. His legacy will continue through the lives and memories of his loving family and the countless individuals who were impacted by his kindness, professionalism, and unwavering dedication.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Alvina Rothering; and his brother, Veryl Rothering.

He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Ann Rothering; children, Greg Rothering and Janice Kirbow; grandchildren, John Kirbow, Bridget Rothering, and Kayla Abney; great grandchildren, Jackson Pohorence and Blakely Abney.
