Bobbie Joy Myers

January 27, 1936 — November 22, 2023

Bobbie Joy Coulter Myers was born January 27, 1936, in Gilmer, Texas and passed away peacefully at her home in Mauriceville, Texas on November 22, 2023. Bobbie was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend to many. She was the quintessential family matriarch - strong, independent, assertive, charismatic, opinionated, and nurturing with a beautiful heart that enveloped her family with love and support.
As a child, she literally burned down an east Texas mountain to please her mother. She repeatedly “baptized” her brothers and sisters in the river because, by her estimation, the first few times didn’t take. And she DID NOT steal the milk money in grade school, although she took the blame because sometimes teachers do get it wrong. She was, in a word, perfec’ (her pronunciation for “perfect”). Bobbie enjoyed work immensely, starting at the lunch counter at Weingarten’s in Orange at the age of thirteen. She later worked as tax assessor collector for many years in Deweyville and finally ended her career aged seventy-eight as a bookkeeper at Mauriceville MUD.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo Coulter and Ima Dean Coulter; her first husband Freddy B. Myers; her daughter Donna Lynn Myers Tynes; four brothers, Jimmy Morris Coulter, Winford Childress Coulter, Randall Leo Coulter, and Cleo Coulter, Jr.; two sisters, Miriam Virginia Baker, and Emma Dale Nelms; and her stepson Kenneth Allen Dorman.
Survivors include Bobbie’s husband, Hereward Kenneth Dorman, of Mauriceville, TX; daughter Lisa Flores and her husband Rob Flores, Jr. of Mauriceville, TX; stepdaughter Rhonda Lindley and her husband Luther of Huntsville, TX; sisters Eddie Jean Stephenson of Deweyville, TX, Patsy Dean Sanderson of Orange, TX, and Marjorie Lynn Wohler of Beaumont, TX; grandchildren Amber Bourge of Brooklyn, New York, John Wilson of Rosharon, TX, Jared Wilson of Mauriceville, TX, Gabby Flores of Beaumont, TX, Olivia Flores of Lumberton, TX.
The family would like to extend a special word of appreciation to Pam Garrett of Beaumont, TX. Pam started off as a caregiver for Bobbie many years ago but quickly became family. Pam gave loving care, compassion, and valued friendship to Bobbie for the past three years. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Brenda Ardoin and to the staff of Compassion Hospice.
As per Bobbie’s wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calvary Baptist Church of Deweyville, TX, or The American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org.
