Blanche Mathis, 80, resident of Pt. Neches 34 years and former resident of Beaumont died Friday, April 27, 2007, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas after a sudden illness. She was the daughter of Marvin and Rosa Means Boothe.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home Chapel in Beaumont with Dr. Ralph Thompson, former pastor of Amelia Baptist Church and Brother Tony Shaw of Amelia Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Pt. Neches. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2007, at the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mathis was a member of Amelia Baptist Church, loving wife, beloved mother, grandmother and friend.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry Mathis; daughter, Becky Huff; granddaughter, Laura Allred; two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her daughters, Sherilyn Goodman of Beaumont, TX, Betty Bourgeois and husband, Lyn of Orangefield, TX, Bonnie Lehr and husband, Terry of Montgomery, TX, Linda Allred and husband, Bruce of Birmingham, AL and Debra Stagner and husband, Hershel, Jr. of Orange, TX; her son, Jerry Mathis and wife, Debbie of Mauriceville, TX; 13 grandchildren, Amy Bass, Guy Huff, Nathan and Alexander Goodman, Jason, Daniel, Joel and Clay Bourgeois, Abbe Jones, Jeremy and Jacob Mathis, Ryan and Stephanie Allred; seven great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Flora Jean Boothe of Beaumont, TX.
Serving as pallbearers will be Nathan Goodman, Jason Bourgeois, Jeremy Mathis, Daniel Bourgeois, Joel Bourgeois, Jacob Mathis, Clay Bourgeois, Guy Huff and Taylor Huff; and honorary pallbearers will be Alexander Goodman, Abbe Jones, Stephanie Allred, Ryan Allred, Callie Huff, Amy Bass, Emily Bass, Sam Bass, Sydney Bourgeois, Alex Bourgeois and Julia Bourgeois.
