She was born in Dry Creek, Louisiana, on September 25, 1919, to James Henry and Sarah Adeline Tyler Spears. After graduation from high school, Bessie attended Louisiana State Teachers College. She was a resident of Southeast Texas for over 60 years. Bessie was a wonderful Christian mother, a homemaker, and a friend to many people that she met during her life. All of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of age are Christians and call her ?blessed,? Proverbs 31:28. Her belief in God was evident in every aspect of her life. She was a long time member of Woodland Baptist Church in Beaumont. She loved her Sunday school class and church. Bessie enjoyed visiting the elderly in nursing care centers and in their homes up until two year ago. She also enjoyed playing the kazoo with the Woodland Group. At the time of her death, she was member of Crestwood Baptist Church in Lumberton. Mother was always surrounded by her family, and we can not remember a time when she was not helping and caring for someone.
Her husband, Warner Russell Green, preceded her in death.
She is survived by one brother, Leonard Daniel Spears of Dry Creek, Louisiana, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bessie is also survived by her four children, Wanda Green Wismer and husband Elmer, Sandra Green Talbert and husband, George, Warner Russell Green, Jr. and wife Vicki, and Kay Green Mullins and husband George.
