In loving memory of Audry Scoggins Lawson, who passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on December 19, 2025, in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Born on May 11, 1928, in Leesville, Louisiana, Audry was a remarkable woman whose life was dedicated to her family and community.
Audry proudly embraced her role as a homemaker, where her love for cooking for family and friends stood out as one of her proudest accomplishments. She had an exceptional ability to make everyone feel welcome in her home, with a menu always carefully planned to ensure that no one left hungry. Audry's passion extended beyond the kitchen; she also enjoyed crocheting and playing dominoes, activities that brought her joy and connected her with loved ones.
For over 30 years, Audry volunteered as a Pink Lady, serving her community with unwavering dedication and kindness. Her commitment as a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Bridge City further exemplified her deep-rooted faith and desire to uplift those around her.
Audry is survived by her son, James Lawson, Jr. and his wife, Brenda of Vidor; her daughter, Sandra Morris and her husband, Ernie of Orange; her daughter, Katherine Romero and her husband, Larry of Simpsonville, South Carolina; and her son-in-law, Wayne Hebert of Bridge City. Additionally, she leaves behind a legacy of love through her ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren, special nieces, Nina Boyd and Lisa Grasty, alongside other numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James H. Lawson, Sr.; her daughter, Carolyn Hebert; her son, Michael McElhany; her daughters, Pamela McElhany and Rosalind Lawson; and her sisters, Cordy Hallman and Massie Lee Johansen.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on December 22, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, Texas. A graveside service will be held the following day, December 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange, Texas.
Audry Scoggins Lawson lived a life filled with love, generosity, and faith, leaving cherished memories that will forever warm the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing her. Her spirit shall live on through her family and the countless lives she touched throughout her journey.
