Ann and Basil Burns

Ann Miller Burns, 86, of Orange, Tx., passed away on July 21, 2025, in an automobile accident in Newton County. Her husband, Charles Basil Burns, 90, died July 24, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Tx as a result of this same accident.

Ann was born in Holly Springs, Mississippi Jan 3, 1939. Basil was born in Simpson, Louisiana Jan 31, 1935. They had just celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary.

Ann and Basil are survived by their 5 daughters: Stephanie Lomonte (Frank), Candace Clark, and Jennifer Burns of Orange, Tx., Christy Huber (Jim) of Texas City, and Melissa Terrell (Barry) of League City. There are 12 grandchildren: Michael Braxton, Nicholas Lomonte, Lauren Lomonte Todd, Alyson Parish, Nathan Parish, Haley Hillin, Kevin Huber, Kyle Huber, Anastasia Huber, Reagan Terrell, Travis Terrell, and Helena Zahra. They are also leaving behind 11 great-grandchildren.

Also mourning the losses are Ann's sister, Viki Dickerson and family, and her brother, Homer Miller, Jr. and family. Basil is leaving his sister, Loretta Hughes and family, and brother, Ronnie Burns and family.

Funeral arrangements are as follows: Visitation from 9:30 - 11:00 am, Funeral at 11:00 am, on Friday, August 1, 2025, at McDonald Memorial Baptist Church, Orange, Tx.

Services are under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
