Visitation will be at 9:00 am -11:00 am, Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.

Born in Church Point, LA, on November 28th, 1941, he was the son of Gaston Doucet and Marie Thibodeaux.

LJ grew up in Winnie, TX and attended East Chambers High School.  He relocated to Bridge City in the early 60’s. There he worked as an insulator and small business owner for over 30 years. He was a member of the Asbestos Workers Local 22 and was a local businessman, a true entrepreneur owning several small businesses throughout his career.  As a devout Catholic, LJ, along with his wife Pat, raised their family as active members and supporters of St. Henry Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Additionally, he and his family were active and avid supporters of the local 4H and FFA community.  Due to his lengthy illness, he was unable to continue to actively support so many organizations that he was deeply passionate about. However, he remained a tried and true, die-hard Dallas Cowboys superfan until the very end. As the patriarch of the Doucet family, he was a big man who loved big too.  Spending the majority of his adult life in the same neighborhood as his brothers, he treasured raising their families together.

He is preceded in death by his parents Gaston Doucet and Marie Thibodeaux, his first wife, Lenora Jean, brothers Steve Doucet and Robert “Bud” Doucet, John Doucet, and sister Mable Clement.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 50 years, Pat Doucet; sister, Pat Brown; daughter, Penny Doucet; sons, Lance, wife Deedra; Loren, wife Mona; Laine, wife Megan; and Colby Doucet; grandchildren: Joshua Britt, Tiffany Burnette, Blake Kolar, Chaston Kolar, Dustin Doucet, London Doucet, Charly Doucet, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Britt, Blake Kolar, Chaston Kolar, Dustin Doucet, Travis Doucet, Dallas Burnette, Matt Stephens, and Tell Brown. Honorary pallbearers are his nephews and great-grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made In Memory of Albert “LJ” Doucet to Dr. Zeenat Safdar, Houston Methodist Research Foundation to Advance Pulmonary Hypertension Research, 6445 Main St., Floor 22, Houston, TX 77030 or Catholic Charities.
