Vonie Dupuy Duhon

December 20, 1930 — May 7, 2020

Vonie Dupuy Duhon, age 89, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2020. She was born December 20, 1930 in Marksville, Louisiana.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alton Joseph Duhon and son, Ronald Joseph Duhon, and also grandson Christopher Pinder and great grandson Hayden McCuistion.

She is survived by four children, Michael Wayne Duhon, Linda Fay Alston, Charles Lee Duhon, and Judy Gail Duhon. In addition, she is survived by 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren, and the happy news that there are 3 more on the way!

Her life was a living example of providing and caring for her family during hard trying times and happy prosperous times. She showed us all how to make the best of what we had, and how to celebrate our blessings. Remembering that sometimes when things happen, good or bad, there was usually a reason that it was meant to be, and everything will turn out for the best. Those of you who knew her well, are aware that she, at times, could be very spirited, but in her own way she taught us all to be strong and self-assured in our own lives.

Often described as a friendly fun loving little lady with a mischievous skill for embarrassing you at times. She was also known for non-stop cleaning, cooking and constantly asking if you wanted something to eat, and then saying that you look like you’ve put on some weight. She was so very proud of each and everyone in our large family and truly wanted all of us to have the best life possible. She lived a wonderful life, and thank you to all who were a part of it.

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I, and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other, that we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me and if you want to, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was,
Let it be spoken without effect,
Without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was;
There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you,
For an interval,
Somewhere very near,
Just around the corner. All is well.
