Sheelagh Mary Barron

May 25, 1926 — September 10, 2021

Sheelagh Mary Barron, 95, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021 at her home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2021, at St. Paul Episcopal Church on Park St. in Orange, Texas. Officiating will be Father Keith Giblin.

Sheelagh was born in Coventry England on May 25, 1926 and was the daughter of Percival John Baxter-Ludlow and Jack and Amy Armitage. She received her degree as a registered nurse from Birmingham General Hospital in Birmingham England and worked as a RN during WWII. This is where she met her husband of 49 years Daniel Lee Barron Jr. After the war, they moved to the US where Sheelagh worked at the Orange City Hospital as a supervisor in the Emergency Room. She was instrumental in starting the first ambulance service in Orange County. She later retired from the City of Beaumont as a Paramedic RN.

Sheelagh was a lady of many talents including knitting and crocheting. She was a talented artist, and taught oil painting in her own studio. Sheelagh herself was a gifted oil painter with many paintings hanging in the hospital, local businesses and homes. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She was on a travel bowling league until the age of 85, where she often was the league high points winner. Sheelagh enjoyed reading a good book in the spare moments she had. She had a quick wit and routinely won at scrabble at all family events.

Sheelagh was proceeded in death by her husband Daniel and three sons, Daniel Wade, Derek Marshall and Dane Michael. She is survived by her daughter Shea Barron Bailey; son Wade Barron (Nikki); and daughter-n-law Dene Barron. Eight Grandchildren Derek Barron, Jessica Barron, Amy Bryce (Dennis Williams), Crystal Witt (Ryan), Amanda Davis (David), LaLeah Britt, Joshua Sims (Whitney Murdock) and Kody Fisette; eight Great-Grandchildren; and niece Lloydnetta (Buddy Bell) Hosea.

The family would like to thank Southeast Texas Hospice and offer special thanks to caregivers, Treasa Hebert, Sharon Dorsey, Janis Hughey, Kathy Coleman and Reanna Bolluck for their compassion, friendship, and skilled assistance for making Sheelagh’s final days comfortable and peaceful.
