Born in Jacksboro, Texas, on July 26, 1932, she was the daughter of John Robarus Carney and Edith Lyle Atkinson. Ruby was a very involved and dedicated member of First United Methodist Church in Vidor. She spent time volunteering for Vacation Bible School, Women in Open Door Class, was a Blue Bird Leader, and a Camp Fire Leader. Ruby spent many years working for Vidor Florist and loved spending time with friends in the Garden Club. She was always a busy body and was involved with TOPS and a longtime member of the Red Hat Society. She attended Lamar University to receive her certified nursing assistant certification and went on to enjoy her career of helping others through Home Health. Her biggest accomplishment in life was raising her babies and she absolutely adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruby was a loving, compassionate, one of a kind woman that was there to help anyone in need. She was always there lending a shoulder to cry on, a room to sleep in, or even one of her famous lectures you may not have even known you needed. Ruby had a tender heart, a sweet soul, and was a strong woman whom many admired. Those who had the privilege to know and love her will pass her life lessons on for years to come.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Robarus Carney and Edith Carney Newby; sister, Gloria Dorest Carney; brothers, Gilbert Guy Casey, James Newton Casey, and John R. Carney; father of her children, Frank Elbert Hannah, Sr.; and grandson, Daniel Brandon Lyle.

She is survived by her children, Dora Lyle (Roger) of Cypress, Frank “Frankie” Hannah, Jr. (Debbie) of Vidor, Alden Hannah (Carol Ramsey) of Vidor, Donna Rash (Randy) of Lumberton; grandchildren, Laura Ann Lyle Lovitt (Robert) of Cypress, Karla Taylor (Phillip) of Deweyville, Brian Leatherwood (Brandi) of Bridge City, Jamie White of Katy, Derrick Hannah (Heather) of Orange, Melissa Bailey (Jesse) of Vidor, Erika Hunter (Jake) of Cushing, and Frank “Chip” Hannah, III of Vidor; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Leatherwood, Derrick Hannah, Jesse Bailey, Jake Hunter, Phillip Taylor, Seth Leatherwood, and Frank “Chip” Hannah, III.

The family would like to send a special thank you to all of the caregivers that have taken care of Ruby for the past three years.
