Rose Marie Avery

July 24, 1959 — January 11, 2021

Rose Marie Avery, 61, of Port Arthur, passed away on January 11, 2021, in Beaumont.

Born in Port Arthur, Tx, on July 24, 1959, she was the daughter of Clarence Avery and Harriet (Vitterbo) Avery. Rose was a devout member of Faith Harbor Assembly of God in Port Arthur, where she not only attended but sang in the praise choir. Rose loved to knit and crochet and was a talented baker and cook. Her family and friends would all come together to share her famous turkey gumbo whenever they could. Rose took in everyone and claimed them as her own, showing unconditional love to all her “children”. She was giving to a fault and devoted her life to caring for others. Rose was a strong, sympathetic woman, but above all else was “Nana” to her grandchildren, whom she adored. Rose will be sorely missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know and love her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Harriet Avery.

She is survived by her children, Lisa Quintero of Queens, NY; Angel Lennon of Nederland, TX; Maureen Moore-Simon & husband Christavius of Atlanta, GA; and Rose Lennon of Queens, NY; grandchildren, Christopher Lennon, Ryan Lennon, Brianna Rodriguez, Alyssa Stroman, Justin Lennon, Emylie Stroman, Melina Moore, Marc Moore and Mia Simon; brothers, John Avery, Paul Avery, and David Avery; and sisters, Margaret Ryals, Mary Kimbell, and Carol Jenkins.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Kelley Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont.
