Rosalie Romano

August 20, 1935 — September 11, 2021

Rosalie Romano, 86, of Orange, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2021, in Orange.

Born in Orange, Texas, on August 20, 1935, she was the daughter of John B. Blanda and Josephine (Zeto) Blanda. She graduated from St. Mary Catholic School and attended Lamar University, where she was Homecoming Queen. Rosalie was a devout Catholic and a dedicated member of St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Altar society and the Angel Choir. She was also a member of the LaDonna Club, and loved being involved with her community and her church. She particularly enjoyed her participation in the annual Holiday Gift Shop, and preparing Italian stuffed artichokes for the St. Joseph’s Day Feast.

Rosalie was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who was devoted to her family and loved to cook for them. And she was well-known for rarely missing a hair appointment, a Turner Classic Movie, or passing-up a Dr Pepper. She will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph J. “Joe” Romano; son, John D. Romano; parents, John and Josephine Blanda; and her twin siblings Bernard and Bonita.

She is survived by her children, Thomas F. Romano and wife Barbara of Flower Mound, Texas, Mary K. Trocino and husband Michael of Austin, Texas, Joy Romano-Miller and husband Kenneth of Houston, Texas, Joseph M. Romano and wife Melisa of Orange, Texas; and daughter-in-law, Kristen Romano of Highland Village, Texas; grandchildren, John Romano and wife Lauren, Mykal Romano-Benefield and husband Michael, Josh Romano and wife Addie, Ria Romano-Smith and husband Garrett, Damien Hebert, Nicholas Romano, Mitchell Trocino, and Anthony Romano; great grandchildren, Heidi Gayle Benefield, John Stephen Romano, Pearce Thomas Romano, and Hallie Jo Benefield; brother-in-law Carlo Romano of Fallbrook, CA, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to extend special thanks to everyone at Harbor Hospice of Beaumont, particularly Rosalie’s nurse, LaDawn Watford, and for the loving care provided in her last months by private caregivers Dominique Crosson and Anita Block.

Funeral services will be private, and burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be John Romano, Michael Benefield, Josh Romano, Damien Hebert, Nicholas Romano, Mitchell Trocino, and Anthony Romano. Honorary pallbearers are Frank Zeto, Frank Lomonte, Nick Lomonte, John Blanda, Michael Blanda, and Joseph Murphy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary Catholic School, 2600 Bob Hall Road, Orange, Texas 77632.
