Patsy L. (Spears) Brister

September 10, 1933 — December 16, 2020

Patsy L. (Spears) Brister, age 87, passed away from this life and went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 16, 2020.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Pat was born on Sunday, September 10, 1933 to parents Grace (Fountain) Spears and Nolan Williams Spears. Pat was a lifelong resident of Deweyville, Texas, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was known and loved by many. Pat had a strong work ethic and exhibited this at Kroger where she was employed. After 25 plus years she retired with fond memories of co-workers and friends. She also loved her family and always supported them with all she had to give. Pat lived her life with a servant’s heart and always put others before herself. Having no children of her own she was a “second” mother to her nieces and nephews who have fond memories of trips to the beach every summer and many movie nights out at the theater. She also gave the best foot rubs and was able to perfect her technique with hours of practice by having willing participants. Pat was also an excellent cook and baker. Her family and friends are still enjoying her recipes today.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin H. Brister; her parents, Grace and Nolan Spears; sisters and brothers, Rogers Spears, Judy Spears, Mickey Spears, Lillian Simmons, NL Spears, Paul Spears, and Joy Lummus.

She is survived by her sister, Elaine Hanner and husband John of Deweyville, Texas; and brother, Tommy Spears and wife Estelle also of Deweyville; and numerous nieces and nephews along with great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family sends a special thank you to Christie Frazier, Linh Nguyen, and the staff at Cherished Years where Pat resided the last 12 years of her life. Also extending a thank you to the nurses and doctors at Infinity Care Hospice.
