Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on February 11, 1947, he was the son of Olaf Halten, Jr. and Wanda Nell (Talmadge) Halten. Olaf proudly served his country during the Vietnam war in the United States Army. After returning from the army, he owned and operated Nick’s Cafe in Deweyville for several years. Olaf loved spending time with his grandsons, shooting pool, solving puzzles, performing magic tricks, and playing card games. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, boating, and skiing. Olaf liked tinkering with electronics and had a knack for figuring out how things worked. He will be remembered by his loved ones for his infectious smile, sense of humor, storytelling, and always having a joke for every occasion.
