Noson E. Fontenot, Sr.

Noson E. Fontenot, Sr., 84, of Orange, Texas, passed away on August 31, 2019, in Silsbee, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Father Steve Leger. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Christian wake being held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in New Iberia, Louisiana, on October 27, 1934, he was the son of Voorhies J. Fontenot and Beatrice Theriot. Noson worked as an Ironworker for over 45 years. He served as Business Agent, Manager, and President of the International Association of Bridge and Structural Ironworkers, Local 125 Union. He was also the owner and operator of Fish On Guide Services and was a certified fishing guide. Noson was a member of the National Rifle Association. He loved spending time with his family, being outdoors, fishing, and hunting. Noson dearly cherished his grandchildren and was a devoted husband. He was very independent and was always the man in charge, even until his last day. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his loving life of 53 years, Michele R. Fontenot; his parents, Voorhies and Beatrice Fontenot; his daughter, Donna M. Fontenot; and his sisters, Connie Bourgeois, Barbara Burge, and Novella Choate.

He is survived by his children, Kelly Bright and husband Brian of Bridge City, Katherine Forse and husband John Thomas of Silsbee, Noson E. Fontenot, II and wife Terrie of Lake Jackson, Trent Fontenot and wife Darlene of Groves, Cindy Fontenot Kleypas of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Carroll Fontenot and wife Deborah of Bridge City; his 7 grandchildren, Taylor Michele Bright, Kaitlyn Bright Sampson and husband Nic, Hannah Fontenot, Andrew Fontenot, Peter Fontenot, Desiree Kleypas, Caleb Fontenot, and Dee Fontenot; and his brother, Cedric Fontenot.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Bright, Neville Thomas, Nic Sampson, Carroll Fontenot, Jerry Goins, and Cedric Fontenot. Honorary pallbearers are Trent Fontenot and Noson E. Fontenot, II.
