Michael Joseph Thevis

Michael Joseph Thevis, 75, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on September 1, 2020, in Beaumont.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 5, 2020, at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Orange, Texas. Officiating will be Deacon Melvin Payne, of St. Mary Catholic Church in Orange.

Visitation will be held prior to the graveside service beginning at 9:00 a.m., with a Rosary at 10:00 a.m., at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Iota, Louisiana, on March 20, 1945, he was the son of John and Martha Thevis. Michael graduated from St. Francis High School in Iota, Louisiana, where he met the love of his life, in 1963. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force spending the majority of his tour in England training as a Fire Fighter. Michael returned home in 1967 and married his High School Sweetheart, Glynda. He went on to retire from Chevron Chemical in 1999 after many loyal years. Michael was a strong man with a soft heart. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, taking care of his house, and could build just about anything. His family meant the world to him and he loved them dearly. Michael will be missed by all who had the gift of knowing and loving him.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents; as well as sisters, Sandra Myatt and Kathleen Langlinais.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 52 years, Glynda Thevis; sons, Chad Thevis and wife Jessica, of Nederland and Daniel Thevis and wife Melanie, of Round Rock; grandchildren, Alicia Fontenot and husband Logan, Joshua Thevis and wife Amanda, Dara Thevis, Ella Thevis, Bradley Thevis, and Tyler Thevis; 2 great-grandchildren, Bailey and Layla Fontenot; brothers, Robert Thevis and wife Sadie, Patrick Thevis and wife Carolyn, and Steve Thevis; sisters, Antoinette Coignard and husband Richard, and Marian Thevis; brother-in-law, Tom Myatt; along with numerous other loving family and friends.

We ask that you please respect Michael’s family by wearing a mask and continuing to social distance.
