Margaret "Yvonne" Jeanis

July 17, 1956 — June 14, 2021

Yvonne Jeanis of Orange, Texas returned to her heavenly home on Monday, June 14, 2021, in Beaumont, Texas surrounded by her loving family. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her and ultimately gave her peace in her final moments.

Yvonne is preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Portele and her sister Patricia Minton and mother-in-law Genevieve Jeanis. She is survived by her adoring husband, Joseph Jeanis; their children Justin and wife Crystal Jeanis, and Benjamin and wife Jessica Jeanis; her grandchildren Camden, Caleb, and Joshua Jeanis; and her brother Gene Portele.

Yvonne was born on July 17, 1956, in Galveston, Texas. After attending Lamar, she went on to marry her high school sweetheart on May 12, 1979. She then became a loving and selfless mother in December of 1981 and again in November 1988. While committed to the growth and success of her family, she built a successful career at Mid Jefferson Hospital and The Medical Center of Southeast Texas as a Microbiologist and retired in 2018. Yvonne faced everything in life with grace, faith, and dignity, and she encouraged her loved ones to do the same. Yvonne was blessed with a large and loving family and was a doting wife, mother, and friend to all who surrounded her. She enjoyed spending her time with her family and friends, and she would often be a strong force of encouragement.

A mass of Christian burial for Yvonne will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday June 19, 2021 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, with Father Ernie Carpio officiating. She will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m., Friday, June 18, 2021 at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange with a rosary at 7:00 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gregory Jeanis, Lucas Jeanis, Sean Jeanis, Blake Jeanis, Joshua Minton and Kristopher Minton.

“Don’t think of me as gone away
My journey has just begun
Life holds many facets
the Earth is just one
Just think of me as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
Where there are no days or years
Think of how I must be wishing
That you could know today
That only our sadness can really pass away
And think of me as living
In the hearts of those I’ve touched
For nothing loved is ever lost
And I was loved so much.”
